Ann Drake hosts women's leadership Symposium
Ann Drake, DSC CEO and founder of the supply chain leadership initiative AWESOME, and co-host Kathy Wengel, VP, Johnson & Johnson Supply Chain, welcomed participants to the third annual AWESOME Symposium, May 6-7, at Johnson & Johnson World Headquarters in New Brunswick, NJ.
On the opening night of the 2015 Symposium – AWESOME in Action: Connecting, Collaborating, Inspiring, the AWESOME Legendary Leadership award was presented to Beth Ford, EVP, Chief Supply Chain and Operations Officer, Land O’Lakes, and Debbie Lentz, SVP, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Toys”R”Us, in recognition of their achievements as supply chain leaders.
The Symposium program featured a panel of C-Suite leaders, including Carolee Friedlander, CEO, AccessCircles, and Founder and former President and CEO, Carolee Designs, Inc.; Nina McLemore, Founder and CEO, Nina McLemore Inc.; and Teresa Weintraub, President and CEO, Fiduciary Trust International of the South, who shared insights about how women can advance their careers. Susan Packard, co-Founder of Scripps Network and former COO, HGTV, served as moderator.
The program also included a discussion of supply chain megatrends by a panel of senior women supply chain leaders, a dialogue among a panel of senior male supply chain leaders about the opportunities and barriers to the advancement of women leaders, and a presentation from a panel of emerging leaders on the ways organizations and seniors can support their career development and advancement. Rosabeth Moss Kanter, Ernest L. Arbuckle Professor, Harvard Business School, and Sandi Petersen, Group Worldwide Chairman, Johnson & Johnson were interviewed as part of the AWESOME Leadership: Up-Close Conversation series.
For the third year, AWESOME awarded scholarships to five women enrolled in university supply chain management programs. The award covers the cost of the scholars’ participation at the CSCMP (Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals) Global Conference in San Diego onSeptember 27-30.
The 2016 Symposium on April 27-29 will be hosted by Nike at the company’s headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, near Portland.
