DSC leaders head to Atlanta for CSCMP Global Conference
Chicago, Illinois (September 25, 2012) – DSC Logistics leaders will attend the Annual Global Conference of the Council of Supply Chain Professionals (CSCMP) in Atlanta, Georgia, September 30-October 3. At the conference, DSC CEO Ann Drake will receive CSCMP’s 2012 Distinguished Service Award. DSC also will name the recipients of the 2012 Thinkers & Movers award.

The DSC representatives will participate in sessions and discussions with other supply chain leaders. CSCMP is the leading worldwide professional association dedicated to education, research and the advancement of supply chain management and represents more than 9.000 global members in 63 countries.

CEO Ann Drake will receive the prestigious Distinguished Service Award at the Opening General Session on Monday, October 1, at the Georgia World Congress Center. She is the 47th person and the first woman to receive the annual award, considered the highest honor that can be bestowed on an individual for achievement in the logistics/supply chain management profession. DSC will host a reception in her honor that evening.

That evening, DSC also will present the 2012 Thinkers & Movers award to two individuals whose innovative leadership has resulted in ground-breaking supply chain understanding and practices. The 2012 honorees are Stephan Haeckel, business consultant and executive educator/coach who pioneered the Sense and Respond managerial principles of adaptive enterprise design, and David Simchi-Levi, professor of Engineering Systems at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, author and consultant in the field of operations strategy.

The Thinkers & Movers Award was created in 2009. Previous recipients are Ralph Drayer, former chief logistics officer of Procter & Gamble; Dr. Nancy Nix, executive director of the EMBA program and associate professor, supply chain practice in the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University; Daan Delen, president and CEO of Reynolds American, Inc; Nicholas LaHowchic, author and former logistics executive for Limited Brands and Becton Dickinson; the late Dr. Donald Bowersox, professor at Michigan State University, author, and a founder of what is now the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP); Ed Bowersox, senior global director, Logistics & Supply Chain for Kimberly-Clark Professional; and John Bowersox, manager, PA Distribution, 3PL Relationships for Kohler Co.
